For years SD-6 has fought against FTL and K-Directorate, two crime organizations that are also in the pursue of various artifacts build by the 15th century scientist and prophet, Milo Rambaldi. Ronald D. Moore, the producer of Carnivale and writer for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, boldly re-imagined the original 1978 space opera of humans versus the robotic Cylons. He teamed up with fellow executive producer David Eick on a powerful and dramatic update of the Galactica story. Gone are the technobabble, disco-themed costumes and Egyptian helmets of the original series. The modern show introduces new elements to the Galactica story. The Cylons have developed human-form models that are indistinguishable from real humans. The Cylons have a monotheistic religion in contrast to the polytheistic religion of the human Colonies. The approach is serious and intense, with a focus on tough political, philosophical and religious issues set in a tale that manages to keep the focus on realistic and not always perfect characters.

Help comes in the lumpy shape of Manny Bianco, a hairy, bumbling individual who (almost by osmosis) becomes Bernard's assistant. Manny is not exactly great at the job either but he is a million times better than Bernard. Next door is Fran, an anxious, frustrated woman who (in the first series) runs a sort of new-age shop selling the most unlikely bits of arty junk. (In the second, her shop wasn't seen.) Fran is friends with Bernard and, through him, with Manny; together the trio become embroiled in escapades that are sometimes extreme fantastically ludicrous, and always bizarre. The show has won two BAFTA awards and one Bronze Rose award. The show has also been nominated for two British Comedy Awards and an Irish Film and Television Award.

Blackadder (4 seasons)

Through four series and a few specials, Edmund Blackadder and his greasy sidekick Baldrick conjure up cunning plans as Edmund tries to take advantage of desperate times. The series was located in the British town of Chelmsford in 123 AD and concerned the comic power struggle between Roman governor Aulus Paulinus (Jimmy Mulville) and the British chieftain, Badvoc (Rory McGrath). Britain is cold and wet, and Aulus was given the Governor's job as a suitable punishment for accidentally insulting the Holy Roman Emperors' girlfriend. Aulus was a rather delicate Roman, who was usually outwitted by the scheming Badvoc, who hadn't had a haircut for twenty-five years.

Orange Islands arc (Season 2): After losing in the pokemon league, Ash, Misty, and Brock head to the Orange Islands to retrieve the mysterious GS Ball. After obtaining it, Brock decides to stay and work with Professor Ivy to help him with his dream. As Ash decides to compete in the Orange League, they are joined by Pokemon Watcher Tracey. Together they set out on Ash's new Lapras' back and travel around the tropical islands, while still fending off Team Rocket. Johto arc (Season 3/The Johto Journeys, Season 4/Johto League Champions, Season 5/Master Quest): After delivering the GS Ball to Professor Oak, he can't figure out the secrets of the ball. He sends Ash off to Azalea Town in Johto in order to deliver the ball to the pokéball expert Kurt. Apeing the style of the midmorning chat show, TMWRNJ purported to be a perfectly ordinary magazine format, the difference being that all the sections were at least partially weird and mostly, very strange indeed. At its most beautiful, TMWRNJ's sketches were genuinely original, particularly in the use of intellectual surrealism, childlike wonder and returning characters - a combination rarely used elsewhere. Favourite sequences and characters were the Curious Orange (also the Curious Alien), and his seemingly innocent questions about life; an inept version of Nostradamus who was always held to account for his inaccuracies; and of course When Insects Attack, which featured not-very-terrifying attack sequences.

Time Trumpet (1 season)

The documentary spoof is set 30 years in the future and looks back at the years it was made. The show mocks current art and news such as Coldplay's Chris Martin, bird flu and the congestion charge.

Top Gear (13 seasons)

More than just a show to review new cars, Top Gear is essential viewing. Not just for petrol heads, it also has a huge following amongst people with little or no interest in cars - both male and female. This is due to the show's irreverent approach to motoring, the humour and the priceless chemistry between the show's presenters. A global audience of 350 million can't be wrong.
